I'm not a girl, but I'm Swedish, and all I have to say is...don't worry about it. Most Hungarians make that mistake at some point.
Sometimes I tell people I'm from Indiana in hopes they'll think I'm Indian, native or otherwise, but I look so freaking German that they always just end up looking very confused. So then I say I live in Disney World and that makes sense.
My wife says she knows plenty of Euro's who think Chicago is a state, so don't feel too bad.
